Moving Locally
Local moving is the bread and butter of what Sunshine Movers does — moves within Chicago and between the city and the surrounding suburbs, billed hourly and usually finished the same day. Lakeview to Andersonville, Pilsen to Bridgeport, the city out to Evanston, Oak Park, Berwyn or Skokie.
Local work is priced by the hour, so efficiency is what actually determines your bill. Knowing the neighbourhoods, the parking and the buildings is worth more to you than a low headline rate. If your move crosses a state line, it is quoted differently — as a firm price rather than hourly — and that is covered under our door to door service.

How It Works?!
Within the city, the biggest variable is almost never distance — it is where the truck can legally stop and how far the walk to the door is.
- Hourly rate quoted in writing, with travel time stated up front
- City of Chicago moving permits arranged where the street requires one
- Parking and alley access scouted so the carry distance stays short
- Certificate of Insurance issued to your building the same day where needed
- Same-day completion for the large majority of local moves
We give a start time rather than a window, because a local move that starts late tends to finish in the dark.

Benefits of Service
On an hourly move, the money is lost in the walk. A truck parked two blocks away because nobody arranged a permit can add hours to a job that should have taken four. Scouting access, pulling permits and reserving the elevator costs us a little admin time and saves you real money, which is exactly why we include it rather than charge for it.
