Single-Item Transport

Not every job is a whole house. Sunshine Movers handles single-item and small-load transport — a piano, a gun safe, a treadmill, a sectional that will not fit through the stairwell, a marble table top, or the contents of one room after a purchase or an inheritance. Across Chicago, out to the suburbs, or shipped to another state.

These jobs are about technique and equipment rather than crew size. An upright piano down a flight of stairs is a different problem from a truckload of boxes, and it needs different gear. For long-distance single items we crate and secure the piece for the whole journey rather than just the carry.

How It Works?!

Tell us the item, the weight if you know it, and what stands between it and the truck at both ends. That is usually enough for a firm price.

We will tell you honestly if something will not fit. Measuring first and finding an alternative is a far better outcome than damaging a doorway to prove a point.

Proper Equipment
Piano boards, stair climbers and skates: the difference between moving a 600-pound safe safely and improvising with a hand truck.
Measured First
Doorways, landings and turns checked in advance, so we know it fits before anyone lifts anything.
Flat Pricing
Single-item jobs are quoted as a fixed price, so a tricky staircase does not turn into an open-ended bill.

Benefits of Service

Heavy single items are where do-it-yourself moves cause the most injuries and the most property damage. A piano or a safe that gets away from an amateur crew on a staircase damages the item, the wall, the stairs and quite often a person. Correct equipment and two people who have done it a hundred times make it an unremarkable half-hour job.

Yes, uprights, spinets and baby grands. Tell us the type and the stairs involved and we will quote a flat price.
Yes. We regularly collect from stores, warehouses and private sellers and deliver to your home. Send us the pickup address and item details.
We measure beforehand precisely so this does not become a surprise. Where clearance is tight we remove doors, legs or hardware, and if it genuinely will not fit we tell you before you are paying for a truck.
