Residential Moves

Sunshine Movers handles residential moves of every size and distance. Studio apartments in Lakeview, three-flats in Logan Square, condos in the South Loop, single-family homes out in Naperville and Oak Park — and full households relocating to another state entirely. We are Chicago-based and locally owned, and we hold interstate authority for all 50 states, so the same crew that carries your sofa down the stairs is the crew that unloads it wherever you are going.

Every residential move starts with a walkthrough, in person or over video. We look at what you own, where it has to go, and what both buildings will allow. That is how you get a price that holds instead of a lowball estimate that grows on moving day.

How It Works?!

Chicago buildings have rules, and the ones that catch people out are almost always logistical rather than physical. We handle that paperwork before the truck is loaded.

Most one and two bedroom moves inside the city are finished in a single day. Larger homes and suburban moves are scheduled with a start time rather than a vague window, so you are not losing a day waiting on a truck.

Straight Pricing
Hourly rate, travel time and any materials agreed in writing before we start. No surcharges invented at the curb.
Walk-Up Experienced
Third-floor walk-ups, tight stairwells and vintage doorways are routine for our crews, not an excuse for a surcharge.
Fully Covered
Licensed and insured for local Illinois moves and interstate work, with valuation options explained in plain English.

Benefits of Service

The difference between a smooth move and a bad one is rarely muscle — it is planning. Reserving the elevator, getting the Certificate of Insurance to management, knowing which streets need a permit and which alleys a 26-foot truck cannot turn into: that is the work that keeps your move on schedule. We do it as standard, on every residential job, at no extra charge.

Two to three weeks is comfortable for most moves. The end of the month, and especially the May to September stretch, books up fastest. If your lease ends on the 30th or 31st, call as early as you can.
Yes. We can deliver boxes, paper, tape and wardrobe boxes ahead of time, or handle the packing entirely. You only pay for the materials actually used.
Send us the management company requirements and we will issue the COI directly to them, normally the same day. Most Chicago high-rises require one and we deal with it constantly.
